Before and during the test

  • Arrive at least 30 minutes early. Arriving with less than 5 minutes to spare can mean you are turned away.
  • Bring the original ID document you used when booking. If you registered with an eVisa share code, no extra ID is needed.
  • Expect an identity check and a security check before you enter the test room.
  • Store bags, notes, phones and other electronics in the lockers provided.
  • Ask staff about accessibility options such as larger fonts, screen colours or headphones (request these when booking).
  • Your result is emailed within about 10 minutes, with a Unique Reference Number (URN) to use in your ILR or citizenship application.

After the test

  • Keep your Unique Reference Number (URN). You need it for your ILR or citizenship application.
  • If you do not pass, you can rebook after at least 7 days and pay the fee again.
  • If there was a technical problem you could not resolve, you will be offered a free retest.
